Hours and hours go by, and I can’t find what I’m looking for. I need
some graphics for my design of an Internet web site and I can’t find
any that are pleasing. Clearly, things are not flowing and I’m getting
irritated. I start to bog down. It becomes a struggle. What do you do
when you find yourself pushing and nothing’s happening?
Fortunately, when life isn’t flowing, I’ve learned what’s
needed. It’s time to let it all go, and focus on what’s really
important. I go within. That doesn’t mean that I’m instantly
relieved from my irritation, but it does mean that I stop focusing on
the irritation. Instead, I put my attention on what’s inside me.
What’s so significant about going inside? There are so many
important things that have to be done and so little time to do them in.
Why should I spend my time "going within," when there’s
bills to be paid?
Ah, now, there’s a question! This question goes to the crux of why
we’re all here on the Earth at this time, and what’s really
happening.
Actually, fulfillment doesn’t come from what you do. Nothing you
can ever do will bring you fulfillment. And that’s the good news!
Because it’s not about what you do: it’s about who you are. And
you find out who you are, by looking inside. When you find that, then
voila! You find fulfillment in everything you do.
Imagine a rose, the most beautiful red rose you’ve ever seen.
Imagine a bush filled with gorgeous red roses. What happens when you put
all your time, energy and focus on those flowers, admiring them and
pampering them, and totally forget about watering the root of the rose
bush?
Well, of course. Even though you feel the most exquisite joy in your
focus on the flowers, they start to shrivel up, fade away, and die. You
start being distressed because the object of your focus, the roses, are
no longer beautiful but are drying up, becoming something ugly.
It’s obvious why! You’ve forgotten about the root of the
rosebush. You haven’t put any attention on what causes the beautiful
flowers, in the first place. As soon as you do that, what happens? The
roses start coming back in full bloom, once again becoming the
magnificent flower they’re meant to be.
This is exactly what’s happening in the world. People put all their
attention on what they do, on what they’ve created, on their jobs,
family and friends. Yes, these are beautiful creations just like the
roses are beautiful creations of the rosebush. But by focusing all your
attention on these external creations, they start shriveling away,
drying up, becoming completely unfulfilling and unsatisfying. It doesn’t
have to be that way!
By putting your attention on your inner self, you find what is truly
satisfying and fulfilling. Your "root," so to speak, is the
source of your joy and contentment. When your work in the world stems as
a result of your inner desires, your inner being, then your life becomes
totally fulfilling.
Your outside is simply a reflection of your inside. This is the same
as saying your outside is the flower and your inside is the root. When
you water your root (by paying attention to it, by appreciating it,
thanking and loving it), then your outside flowers. In fact, your
outside can become the most enormous and exalted flower you can imagine.
But lose the focus on the inside and the flower starts fading away
and rotting. That’s what most of the people in the world today are
doing. They’re absorbed in their "flowers" and forgetting
their "root," the Source of who they are. So naturally (and
obviously) there’s stress, discontentment, unfulfillment and
bitterness – like a fading flower. But simply water the root, and once
again, the flowers unfold in color and fragrance and beauty.
What happens to faded, rotted flowers? They drop to the ground and
become new soil. Seeds grow in that soil. The seeds of inner focus grow
exceptionally well in that soil. When the seeds are watered, they grow
into a huge root, and then the root sprouts flowers. So sure, there’s
discontent and stress in the world. But it’s like moist, black soil in
which new growth can occur.
Do you want to be unhappy, unfulfilled, and full of stress? No, of
course not! So you look for solutions, for the seeds of happiness. And
because this is a desire universe, what is sought is found. In my case,
I found the solution in the form of the Ishayas’ Ascension attitudes.
Growth happened quickly. I consider myself most fortunate.
The Ascension attitudes pull you inward, quickly and effortlessly.
They are fast, efficient tools for opening the door to what’s inside.
They’re totally mechanical. No belief is required. Sure, some old
stress and feelings of discontent pop up, but this is the dark soil in
which the seeds grow. You don’t have to do anything for seeds to grow.
It happens automatically after they’re planted and watered (by
attention on them.)
In time, a stem appears. This stem is the stem of trust. How do we
know that a flower will appear on that stem? We don’t. But we trust
that it will, because we’ve seen many other plants flower in the same
way. Many, many have used the ascension attitudes and everyone, without
exception, who continued to water the root, has found fulfillment
within.
By trusting our universe, by trusting that everything is going on
exactly as it should, the stem is crowned with a beautiful flower of
peace and fulfillment.
So what do we need to do in the world? Nothing. The real
question is: when you look inside, what do you find? And what do you
want to do from there? That will give you everything you’ve ever
sought or ever desired. It is the doorway to everything!
And that’s why we go within.
